BRAD POSNER | ASSISTANT COACH

Brad Posner joined the Bucknell softball staff in August 2022 and works with the hitters and outfielders.

Three of Posner's hitters made All-League Teams in 2024. Savannah Jones received First Team "At Large" recognition and first baseman Makenzie Hilling and catcher Zoie Smith notched Second Team honors. Smith finished her career tied for fifth in career doubles in Bison history.

Posner made an immediate impact on the Bison's fortunes in 2023. His batting guidance led the Bison to their first Patriot League tournament since 2019. Zoie Smith had a banner year hitting .353 and smacking 15 doubles to rank third all-time on the Bucknell single-season list. Smith finished 19th in the nation in doubles per game (.33). Noelle Gardon ranks third on the Bucknell single-season list in walks (27).

Under Posner, the Bison hitters greatly outpaced their 2022 output in basically the same amount of games (46 vs. 45), improving on the team's batting average by 29 points, scoring 65 more runs, stealing 34 more bases, decreasing strikeouts by 42, and improving in hits, doubles, triples, total bases, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, walks, and OPS.

His other accomplishments include Savannah Jones making Second Team All-Patriot League in the At-Large category, Chase Knapp being selected for Second Team All-Patriot League, and Ava Aguilar handling 52 chances in the outfield without an error.

Posner brings more than two decades of softball coaching experience to Lewisburg, including 11 years as a head coach.

Posner spent the past seven seasons as the head coach at nearby Susquehanna and ranks second all-time in the program's history with 143 career victories. He built the River Hawks into a regional power during his tenure, guiding the team to two Landmark Conference championships along with a pair of trips to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

"I'm thrilled to announce the addition of Brad to our Bison family. He comes to us with great experience and passion for the game," said Caffrey. "He is motivated, extremely knowledgeable, and hard-working. I'm so excited for him to get started with us this fall, and I do not doubt that he will make an impact right away."

In 2022, Posner's River Hawks went 28-9 overall and 11-1 in conference play en route to a second championship in five years. Following the season, Posner's staff was named the NFCA Region V Coaching Staff of the Year.

During his time at Susquehanna, Posner coached 24 All-Conference players, five All-Region selections, and one All-American.

Before his stint at Susquehanna, Posner spent four seasons as the head coach at The University of Texas at Dallas. He amassed an 86-70-1 record, becoming the winningest coach in school history. His teams also set single-season records in more than a dozen categories, including batting average, slugging percentage, hits, RBIs and runs scored.

As a head coach, Posner has led his teams to 20 or more victories in eight of nine seasons (excluding shortened campaigns in 2020 and 2021) and owns a career record of 229-161-1 (.587).

Posner has also spent 12 years as an assistant coach at SUNY Cortland. The Red Dragons won six conference titles and made five NCAA Division III World Series appearances with Posner on staff. He was part of four NFCA Northeast Coaching Staffs of the Year.

In addition to his coaching experience, Posner has served as a director of facilities and a camps and clinics director.

Posner earned his bachelor's degree in psychology at Southern New Hampshire in 2008.
